Two nations low on form face-off at ZTE-Aréna on Thursday evening as Belarus kick-off their Nations League campaign against Bulgaria.

Given the poor form of both nations in recent years, it's difficult to make a compelling case for either side picking up the points on Wednesday. 

Hosts Belarus come into Thursday's contest winless in 12 of their last 15 internationals since November 2022. Without a win in any of their last four, the Belarussian′s slipped to back-to-back 4:0 reversals against Russia and Israel in their last two outings in June.

Led by Spanish boss Carlos Alós, Belarus recent record in Nations League fixtures is equally discouraging. The White Wings failed to win any of their last seven games in this competition over the past four years (D3, L4). Five of their six previous games in the UNL also saw under 2.5 goals scored.

Bulgaria make the trip to Zalaegerszeg also short in winning form over the past year. The visitors have at least managed to avoid defeat in their last five games, although four of those finished deadlocked. 

Still, with only one win in their last 15 internationals since November 2022, the Bulgarians are impossible to back on Thursday.

Instead, I′ll put my money on less than three goals scored at the ZTE-Aréna. Bulgaria have seen that outcome in each of their last four matches, and in five of their last seven UNL games since 2020.

Belarus claimed a narrow 1:0 win when these nations last met in 2020, and while I can't pick a winner this week, a similarly low-scoring contest is expected in Zalaegerszeg.
