South American World Cup qualification continues on Thursday as Bolivia hosts Venezuela at the Estadio Municipal El Alto.

Bolivia vs Venezuela Betting Tips: Over 2.5 / Venezuela to Win

Two nations heading in the opposite direction cross paths on Thursday as Venezuela look to maintain their World Cup qualification hopes against an out-of-form Bolivia.

While still early in the section, with only six games played from 18, visiting Venezuela make the trip to El Alto currently on course to qualify for the World Cup for the first time in their history. Placed fourth in the section with nine points on the board, the Venezuelans even find themselves above Brazil in the race to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

Unbeaten in their last five qualifiers, Fernando Batista′s men have enjoyed an excellent year which has seen them lose only two of their last 12 international matches. Venezuela performed well at the recent Copa America, before bowing out to Canada in the quarter-final stages via the dreaded penalty shootout.

Contrastingly, Bolivia have endured a miserable run of results in the past 12 months. Now under the stewardship of Oscar Villegas, La Verde lost 13 and won only two of their last 15 games played since June last year.

While usually tough to beat at the high altitude of El Alto, Bolivia slipped to defeat in four of their last five home qualifiers, including losses against Ecuador and Argentina last year.

Historically, this fixture has proven a reliable one for goal chasers. Remarkably, each of their last eight meetings saw a minimum of four goals scored. Going back further, only three of their 15 previous encounters saw less than four goals netted.

WIth that in mind, I'm putting my money on Venezuela edging a high-scoring contest at Estadio Municipal El Alto. Over 2.5 goals is my top tip, and don't be surprised to see over three goals and an away win.
